supercut, skate clips, and time lapses

Blub Blub. I'm playing exclusively whale songs and whale related songs. They're my favorite animal :)

This show is called Rookie Girlhood which is inspired by my beloved but now defunct Rookie Magazine created by Tavi Gevinson. It was an online magazine written by teenagers for teenagers and the subject matter ranged from pop culture and fashion to adolescent social issues and feminism.

Rookie magazine was influential because of its nuanced viewpoints on youth and pop culture. I can't watch a mediocre teen movie anymore without thinking Tavi Gevinson has tackled this story better and with more substance. Tavi Gevinson really taught me what it means to be a girl in a way that is headstrong and secure.

The songs I'm playing are unabashedly feminine whatever that may be. This show is an ode to the ingénue underdog, the soft focus and bright eye trope in film, and Sofia Coppola <3

.This show's theme is "YouTube Recommendations Rite of Passage" which centers around the collective experience of watching the viral videos the YouTube algorithm has pushed to everyone!

This episode is an ode to the mechanics behind the algorithm but also the human side of music. I'll be reading some comments people have left under the songs that I'm playing! The YouTube comment section is a place I hold near and dear to my heart. It's a place where people can share their experiences with the songs.

This episode I really wanted to highlight the art of the vent, missed connections, and also how music can be a space of hope and healing. Reading peoples stories is so important and healing. The youtube comment section has made me and others feel less alone :)

This episode I'm playing the minecraft outro music and parodies that have struck with me from my middle school minecraft let's play days. I'll be talking about the minecraft YouTubers that helped me discover these songs. I'll also talk about how these songs were my first introductions to electronic music and how it influences my taste in music today.

This week I'll be spinning music from NoCopyrightSounds whose EDM genres span from house, dubstep, trap and and drum and bass. I'm also playing EDM classics like Animals and Divinity from Martin Garrix and Porter Robinson respectively. I also have some house inspired kpop and minecraft parodies in the mix to spice things up. For my SZA - Kill Bill fans, I HOPE YOU LIKE DIG DOWN BY AARON'S BOOK CLUB.

Songs from Nikhil!

Music that's been churned out of the factory optimized to play during the ending trailer montage of a YA book to major motion picture in theaters Christmas. Which is also the same type of music you hear when shopping in a Khols. Get ready to listen to the most sickenly sweet, inoffensive, PG13, generic yet catchy songs, you can play for your preteen.

This episode consists of 2010s corporate indie pop darlings Bleachers, Mikky Ekko, and Imagine Dragons with songs from the soundtracks of To All the Boys I've Loved before, Love, Simon, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and more :)

In this show I talk about the visual aesthetics of Tumblr grunge/ 2014 Tumblr/ soft grunge/ whatever name you want to use and its themes of internal misogyny, youth rebellion, being a sleazy fuck, and more!

Special guest @!&!$ and I talk about coming of age in suburban Connecticut with themes of isolation, unrequited love, and sexuality like true nutmeggers.

This show we feature greats including Taylor Swift and American Football as well as hometown heroes @thefiversofficial and Orphan Andies (my old English teacher's band heyyy Mr. Dorr) !

In this episode Grace and special guest Adam explore the femcel/incel/male manipulator theme in music featuring Neutral Milk Hotel, The Glee Cast, Fiona Apple, and more! Niche Internet Microcelebrity is about analyzing how people use music to represent their hyper specific identities and aesthetics in a post-internet age! Big thanks to Adam for lending us his time and insight <3

Hello! This is the introductory episode of Niche Internet Micro Celebrity where I (Grace) talk about how people use music intertwines with aesthetics in a post-internet age with some of my favorite tech and post internet inspired songs! Post-Internet is a 21st-century art movement involving works that are derived from the Internet or its effects on aesthetics, culture and society. This episode contains electronic music, pop, hyperpop, and breakcore that have themes of technology and/or pop culture references that originate on the web . Enjoy!
